Wedding: The Proposal!

So, it's official...Jared and I are engaged! I believe I have finally informed ALL of my friends and family about our engagement so it is safe to discuss it here without feeling as though I have slighted anyone. The crazy wedding planning is underway, but I thought I would start from the beginning.

How it happened...

Jared and I were planning to enjoy the long Labor Day weekend in New York City, but at the last minute, we decided to go up to Boston to visit his family. We headed up on Saturday afternoon, and along the way Jared mentioned that he had to stop by Castle Island, a beautiful park in South Boston that overlooks the Ocean, to pick up a Fantasy Baseball check (still not sure if I fully understand what that meant!) from his friend who was fishing at Castle Island. My first thought was who goes fishing off of Castle Island?!

Well, we finally pulled into the parking lot as the sun was setting (perfect timing a I found out later). We got out and started to walk and walk and walk some more. Finally, I thought that this was getting ridiculous, where was Marty?! That's when Jared said it was just a plan hatched to get me out there and he pulled the ring out of his pocket.

It was an appropriate spot given that Jared and I had visited Castle Island on many occasions to enjoy the sunset and watch the planes take off from Logan. He said that he had wanted to take me to the first place we met...a classroom on Boston College's campus where we took a class called Social Movements together. However, given that it was move-in weekend at BC and he couldn't actually remember the exact classroom we had met in (not surprising for a boy who barely made it to any class he had registered for), he opted for a nice setting that we had enjoyed together in the past.

I have to give him a lot of credit on the ring! It's a simple, classic Tiffany ring that I think matches my style and personality perfectly. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, but a nice young women saw Jared's proposal and took our picture.

Over the past eight and half years there have been up and downs, but we are finally on the same path and in the right place to be with each other. We've definitely grown together and know each other very well. So, here's to the next step in our relationship! Cheers!
